In Iran, people gather before the Persian New Years to celebrate Chaharshanbeh Suri, or Red Wednesday. In this ancient Zoroastrian tradition, people jump across a series of flames, asking the fire to take away their sickness and misfortune and provide them with health and happiness for the upcoming year.
